Field survey activities – AFDJ team [second half of June 2020]

As part of an extensive field survey performed by the AFDJ team, during the second half of June 2020, sediments samples were collected to evaluate the current status of the aquatic invertebrates and the chemical quality of the sediments along Danube, in the CPs areas.

A total number of 14 stations along the Danube river were sampled and collected a total number of 110 sediment samples in order to identify any aquatic invertebrates’ species. Based on the results obtained from the analysis of the sediment samples, it was prepared the Zoobenthos inventory report in Danube river. For the analysis of the chemical sediment’s quality a total number of 87 sediment samples were collected to observe the presence of heavy metals, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons, Polychlorinated biphenyl, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and organochloride pesticides. Laboratory results of the sediment samples were used to assess the current status of the sediments in the project area.
