Meeting on «Status of Site-Specific Conservation Objectives (SSCOs) and Appropriate Assessment (AA) in Romania and Republic of Bulgaria» [10.09.2021]

AFDJ Galati and APPD Ruse, as partners in FAST Danube project, organized the online meeting with the Bulgarian competent authorities on «Status of Site-Specific Conservation Objectives (SSCOs) and Appropriate Assessment (AA) in Romania and Republic of Bulgaria» on 10th September 2021.

 

Participants: AFDJ Galati, APPD Ruse, Halcrow Romania SRL/ Jacobs, Jaspers/ EIB, MoEW – Natura 2000 directorate (BG), MoEW – EIA directorate (BG), MTITC (BG), GeoMarine Ltd. (BG).

During the meeting, was discussed the SSCOs status in Republic of Bulgaria. The conclusion was that this activity is in delay and MoWE informed parties that activity will be finalised for 13 N2k sites by June 2021 and for the remaining 26 sites by October 2021. There were also discussions on Water Body Impact Assessment Study (WBIAS).

It was agreed on an organisation of a meeting, to preliminary discuss, between BG and RO competent authorities to clarify expectations, as well as the necessity to include FAST Danube project in the updated version of Danube River Basin Management Plan of BG, following the RO example.

It was also agreed AFDJ to prepare another letter for BG Ministry of Environment related to status of SSCO and AA development.
